"This Always Happens" is the last single before the record, and it tells a true story backwards, from her door far away back to my floor in New Orleans.

The phrase 'this always happens to me' sparked the sojourn, and it was many months before I heard what I was saying. I was common denominator, my own antagonist, perpetrator of this recurrent theme and situation. Didn't feel great, but it was a whole hell of a lot better than imagining a universe pitted against me.
